Call for Participants
The Electoral Hub in partnership with the Madiba Foundation for Good Governance and with support from the MacArthur Foundation under its Organising for a New Nigeria (OON) project is organizing an Electoral Ad-hoc Staff Experience Sharing Roundtable to celebrate the 2023 International Democracy Day, 15 September 2023. This Roundtable is organized as part of our efforts toward strengthening electoral accountability and improving electoral knowledge, credibility, and integrity in Nigeria.
INEC ad-hoc staff are critical stakeholders in the Nigerian electoral process with major responsibility and accountability in safeguarding the integrity of electoral process and also ensuring the quality and success of elections. In other words, electoral ad-hoc staff are instrumental in ensuring the successful conduct of the election.
As key stakeholders who serve as Supervising Presiding Officers (SPOs), Presiding Officers (POs) and Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs), it is necessary that efforts at improving electoral credibility and accountability in Nigeria engage them, and learn from them in proposing policy measures for optimizing their performance. The Roundtable is, thus, aimed at:
- Documenting the experiences of ad-hoc staff as a lesson-learning instrument for electoral staff management
- Training of participants on understanding the electoral process towards creating a corps of electoral advocates working to safeguard electoral integrity.
- Recommending policy improvements on ad-hoc staff management
We call for applications from interested persons who partook in the 2023 General Election and the 2022 governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun States as INEC Ad-hoc staff – PO, APO, SPO – and would like to share their experiences and undergo training on understanding the electoral process in Nigeria.
Interested persons should send an email containing:
i) a one-page letter of interest including information about ad-hoc work such as State, LGA, Ward, PU and Type of Election, and
ii) evidence of participation as electoral ad-hoc staff to: electoralhubng@gmail.com.
All applications should be sent on or before 11:59 p.m., Monday, September 11, 2023.
